OVERVIEW
Our experience in teacher development has taught us that staff development as a whole has little effect on teacher performance. We have stated that, "Once the first bell rings, little will change before the last one does." The shortage of time, the lack of financial resources, and the cultural paradigms of teacher development truly set education apart from many other professions that receive professional training and development in well-established and coordinated curriculums. While we believe that any of these programs would greatly benefit any individual school, our effort is intended to serve the educational system as a whole. We believe that.
We make several significant assumptions about developing administrators and teachers as leaders:
- Great teachers are great leaders.
- Great teachers create exceptional instructional prorams.
- Great teachers engage students in the learning process.
- Great teachers can resolve conflict. They can receive, as well as give, critical feedback in a positive manner.
- The process of fostering and developing better teachers does not occur overnight; it is a gradual process.
- Exceptional teaching performance is directly tied to the individual's ability to be self-aware.
- Effective teacher development requires practice, experimentation, and guidance.
- Great educators are not born, they are developed.
Without a doubt, we believe the most empowering developmental processes are those that focus on leadership and the training of the mind and emotions. WHY CONSIDER MINDSPRING?
- To implement a lasting, powerful, and cohesive training program for educators.
- To motivate and focus the educator's efforts toward creating a personal and professional life that is satisfying and rewarding, resulting in greater longevity in the classroom and increased student achievement.
- To expend resources and energy in developmental areas that truly impact life and academic outcomes in the classroom.
- To provide clarity and highly developed technical skills in assessing and improving the learning and teaching process.
